In 1998, InterCommerce Network Services, Inc. was accredited by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and authorized by the Bureau of Customs to provide electronic data interchange (EDI) services to enable the importers and their designated Customs brokers to submit their import declaration in the standard EDIFACT format (CUSDEC message), to avail of the electronic import clearance procedures for warehousing and consumption (formal) entry declarations. InterCommerce operates its network infrastructure 24 hours x 7 days a week. The Bureau of Customs implemented a new Customs Clearance facility in 2000, referred to as the Super Green Lane (SGL), which mandates the use of EDI in advance lodgment of import entry declaration for immediate clearance and delivery of goods. Recently, it implemented an electronic payment facility to enable importers to issue payment instruction to its bank, based on the Final Assessment Notice (CUSRES message) from Customs ACOS.
